What Is Minimum and Maximum Bookings In Order Type?

In a marketplace platform, "minimum booking" and "maximum booking" typically refer to the limits set on the duration, quantity, or cost of a booking a user can make.

  1. Minimum Booking: This specifies the minimum duration or quantity that a user can book a service or product for. For example, if a platform allows bookings of rental properties, the minimum booking might be set to two nights or two days. This ensures that bookings are not too short to be practical or economically feasible for the provider.

  2. Maximum Booking: This sets the upper limit on the duration or quantity of a booking that a user can make. Using the same example of rental properties, the maximum booking could be set to a certain number of nights or days. This prevents users from booking excessively long periods that might disrupt availability for other potential customers or exceed logistical constraints.

In summary, minimum and maximum bookings in a marketplace platform help to regulate and optimize the booking process, ensuring fairness and efficiency for both providers and users.

How Minimum and Maximum Booking Work?

The seller defines minimum and maximum booking constraints when listing their product.

Examples of Minimum and Maximum Booking Units:

  1. Price: The seller sets a minimum price unit (e.g., 2) and a maximum price (e.g., 10) so that buyers cannot buy their product less than 2 or more than 10.

  2. Availability: The seller sets a minimum availability (e.g., 1 day) and a maximum availability (e.g., 30 days) that users can book for listings.

For example, A seller creates a new listing for a product or service. The seller enters the range they want for their listing.

Now buyer will book the listing within the defined range and continue to complete their booking.

Before booking, check if the entered unit falls within the allowed range (between the minimum and maximum unit set by the seller).

If the entered unit is outside this range, the platform prompts the buyers to adjust the unit accordingly.
